System Administrator

IT | La Vega, Dominican Republic | Full Time | From $25,000 to $27,000 per year

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented System Administrator to join our team in La Vega, Dominican Republic. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential, as the role involves providing support to end-users in the United States. The selected individual will be responsible for the analysis, design, implementation, and support of our network and server IT infrastructure, with a focus on maintaining a stable and efficient environment. This role will also involve providing end-user support and ensuring the security and reliability of our systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person, over-the-phone, and remote technical support for servers, workstations, and network equipment, primarily to end-users in the United States.
  • Promptly respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues, and follow procedures for ticket escalation and documentation.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain network and Windows systems infrastructure in a multi-site environment.
  • Install and configure server hardware and software.
  • Plan and perform system-wide changes to production devices with minimal service interruptions.
  • Plan, install, and configure routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and switches, with a focus on Ubiquiti equipment.
  • Plan and implement network security measures, manage security policies, perform security assessments, schedule and perform monthly security patches, and maintain security posture with Intrusion Detection, Intrusion Prevention, Antivirus, Antispyware, and Antimalware tools.
  • Manage and support on-site data center, including rack-mountable servers and network equipment.
  • Test system disaster recovery procedures.
  • Research, design, and implement IT solutions in response to business needs.
  • Work with end-user IT Support Technicians to remedy ongoing system issues.
  • Interact with third-party hardware and/or software vendors by initiating and supporting vendor services as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relations with users, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technology to support future company needs and validate new technologies proposed for use.
  • Provide training to staff on various technical subjects.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Assist in installing, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network and server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls.
  • Schedule and perform regular computer equipment upgrades, including firmware, operating systems, and application updates.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and supporting documentation for hardware and software.
  • Can pull and route Cat5/Cat6 cables, terminate network jacks, and patch panels.

  • Occasional evening/weekend work is expected for installations and/or troubleshooting.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds of technical equipment.
  • Willing to work one weekend day per week.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • 2+ years of experience in computer/network support.

Technical Requirements:

  • Must have 3+ years of in-depth working knowledge of Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, IIS, Active Directory, WDS, WSUS, DNS, DHCP, and Network Load Balancers, including hands-on experience designing, maintaining, and administering each product.
  • Well-versed experience with Hyper-V, including managing, troubleshooting, and configuring it.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Windows 10/11.
  • Experience with firewall management and a basic understanding of network terminologies.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols with the ability to troubleshoot networking issues. Network switching and routing experience is required, with experience configuring and troubleshooting issues with Access Points and Switches, especially Ubiquiti.
  • Experience working with Azure or Oracle OCI is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Group Policy Management is mandatory.
  • Experience with IIS Servers, including configuring and troubleshooting, is mandatory.
  • Scripting skills (VBScript, PowerShell) are preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise disaster recovery and backup is an asset.
  • Experience working with NetSuite is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Office 2019/2021 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Knowledge of server, computer, and office equipment hardware: installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace is an asset.

Education:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent is required.
  • MCSA, MCSE, MTA, CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA A+ or Net+ certifications are a plus.

Schedule:

  • 40 hours/week, full-time.
