Supply Chain & Distribution Process Engineer
Your Role:
The Supply Chain & Distribution Process Engineer (DPE) is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing end-to-end workflows across our distribution operations in La Vega, DR, Fresno, CA and Bannockburn, IL. This is a high-visibility, hands-on role focused on achieving a sustainable lean culture amidst rapid volume growth. You will bridge the gap between distribution and final delivery, ensuring that engineering solutions improve both product quality and speed-to-market.
Key Responsabilities:
Process Optimization & Lean Leadership: Define work elements and complete work observations to identify lean improvement opportunities; lead the implementation of 5S programs, visual management systems, and KPI cadences that reinforce daily accountability and continuous improvement at all levels.
Warehouse Design: Design and engineer strategic warehouse layouts that optimize material flow and "slotting" based on product velocity, utilizing data-driven heat mapping to minimize travel distances and ensure the physical infrastructure supports a seamless, high-speed transition from picking to final shipping.
Operational Performance: Analyze production and distribution data to identify bottlenecks. Develop business cases for improvements including labor optimization, ergonomic principles, and material handling automation.
Workflow Calibration: Continuously calibrate standard workflow and safety methods. Ensure that processes are executed to expectation by working directly with front-line team members and leadership.
Systems Integration: Lead projects coordinating activity across IT, Operations, and Vendors. Drive process improvements within the ERP and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) to ensure seamless data flow.
Root Cause & Corrective Action: Root Cause & Corrective Action: Lead root cause analysis for process-related issues and delivery delays, driving corrective actions through implementation and validating effectiveness, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Standardization & Documentation: Create and maintain precise documentation for standard work, operating procedures (SOPs), and process changes.
Training & Development: Create and enhance training programs for distribution staff, fostering an organizational culture of change management and excellence.
Strategic Project Management: Support the execution of capital projects and process upgrades, focusing on workforce planning and cost-effectiveness.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of related experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in Distribution or Supply Chain.
Technical Skills: * Proven experience in leading ERP and WMS process improvements.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data to back up assumptions and measure success.
Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Soft Skills: Excellent training and presentation skills. Ability to influence organizational culture and lead through change management.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% as needed to support network initiatives.
Language: Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is highly preferred for this location.
