Plant Manager - Sakira Manufacturing (LaVega)

Job Description

Position:

United States based corporation seeking a dynamic Plant Manager to join the manufacturing team at its related party manufacturing plant in La Vega, Dominican Republic. You will have complete accountability for our overall manufacturing organization, manufacturing support, process improvement and quality. This role reports to the Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes and directs the manufacturing operations which ensure the most effective return on assets in a quick turn manufacturing environment.
  • Initiates plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
  • Assures attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Implements manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports the company’s strategic initiatives.
  • Establishes group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
  • Encourages use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving.
  • Improves manpower utilization within existing departments and processes. Schedule stability that allows for maximum return on productivity.
  • Manages spending against budget, controlling spending in relation to changes in production volume.
  • Assures that employee relations issues are effectively administered and that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Works to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action.
  • Continually improves safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
  • Maintains and improves housekeeping in all areas.
  • Maintains individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.

Education / Experience:

  • BS Degree in business administration, Engineering, management or related fields.
  • 5 plus years of experience in a high-speed production and Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • 5 plus years of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • 10 years’ experience in apparel manufacturing a plus
  • Expert in Excel
  • Knowledge of quality control programs, business, finance and management principles, human resources principles and practices, safety programs, machined and tools.
