Patternmaker - Sakira Manufacturing

Apparel | La Vega, Dominican Republic | Full Time | From $12,000.00 to $12,000.00 per week

Job Description

Position:

United States based corporation seeking a Patternmaker to join the product management team at its related party manufacturing plant in La Vega, Dominican Republic. As a Patternmaker, you will be responsible for translating fashion designers' sketches or specifications into precise patterns that can be used in the manufacturing process. This role involves working closely with design and production teams to ensure that patterns are accurate, efficient, and suitable for mass production. This role reports to the Technical Design Manger.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product Lifestyle Mangers to understand their design concepts and specifications.
  • Interpret sketches, sample garments, or other design inputs to create accurate and detailed patterns
  • Develop patterns using manual or computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Ensure patterns are scalable for various sizes and consider factors like fabric type and garment fit.
  • Create sample garments using developed patterns to test and refine designs.
  • Make adjustments to patterns based on feedback from sample testing.
  • Work closely with design, production, and quality control teams to address any issues related to patterns during the production process.
  • Collaborate with cutters and sewers to optimize the manufacturing process.
  • Grade patterns to create different sizes, ensuring consistency and proportionality across the range.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patterns, including version control and any modifications made.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, new materials, and manufacturing techniques to enhance pattern development processes.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Lectra experience preferred
  • Marker making experience a plus
  • Create fit blocks
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish a MUST!

    Education / Experience:

    • 5-10 years of pattern making experience in the fashion or apparel industry
    • A degree or certification in fashion design, patternmaking, or a related field is preferred
    • Knowledge of garment construction, textiles, and sewing techniques.
