Health and Safety Compliance Manager

Position Overview:
United States based corporation is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Compliance Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that the organization and its team adhere to all safety standards. The ideal candidate will create and implement organizational safety guidelines, promote a culture of safety in the workplace and perform regular site inspections at our La Vega and Santiago manufacturing plants to check compliance. This role will report to the Maintenance Manager, Hector Mejia
Responsibilities:
- Carry out safety risk assessments prior to starting a new project
- Create and administer general safety policies and procedures to be followed by all team members
- Collaborate with the VP of Manufacturing on initiatives to achieve and maintain ISO certification for the company
- Responsible for continuing to develop and maintain a safety conscious work environment amongst team members and supports Continuous Improvement initiatives as needed
- Review all work procedures and ensuring they meet industry safety standards
- Lead the investigation of accidents/near misses and safety incidents that happen, along with, performing root cause analysis and action plans to prevent further injuries
- Inspect company facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards and recommend corrective action plans
- Stay up-to-date with health, safety, and environmental regulations according to OHS regulations
- Ensure safe installation of equipment and overseeing external contractors
- Conduct in-house training sessions on health and safety awareness
- Track incident metrics and apply findings
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university in Safety, Compliance, Risk Management, Operations or related field; Or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
- 2-5 years of experience in safety, environmental and risk management in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in Safety Management
- Experience in risk assessment, operations management, and quality control
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations
- Skilled at developing and delivering safety/compliance programs
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills
- Patience and the ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Research and analytic skills
- Negotiation skills
- Knowledge of relevant software packages
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (speaking/writing)
