Job Description

Position:

United States based corporation seeking a dynamic financial controller to join the accounting team at its related party factory in La Vega, Dominican Republic. You will be responsible for the planning, directing and coordinating of all accounting operational functions while maintaining strong internal controls to ensure compliance with recording standards. This role reports to the VP-Finance & Accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with financial transaction recording standards for all functional areas, including but not limited to: invoicing, cash management, accounts payable, intercompany accounting, local tax reporting.
  • Manage the month-end close process, including posting of various month-end entries, reconcilement and review of accounts (balance sheet, P&L, bank accounts).
  • Prepare financial statements and report variance explanations to the VP-Finance & Accounting.
  • Maintain cash flow and budget forecasting. Communicate opportunities for improvement and action steps needed to the VP-Finance & Accounting.
  • Assess the current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementation of new processes.
  • Prepare all external financial reporting and coordinate activities for the external review of financial statements. External reporting including but not limited to Report 606, Report 607, IT1, IR2, IR3, IR13, IR17, asset tax return, waste tax return, sector statistics to bank, DGT3 and DGT4, ITBIS card renewal, payroll reporting to social security.
  • Handle insurance renewals for factory sites.
  • Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Coach and review the work of accounting staff

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Controller or similar level role; manufacturing industry experience a plus
  • High level of accountability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to oversee people and processes, but also handle day to day work requirements.
  • Proficient in accounting and financial software and systems. Newsoft experience a plus
  • Strong data manipulation technology skills, including Intermediate level Excel skills.
  • Inquisitive nature and desire to continuously learn.
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish - verbal and written a must
