POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is remote eligible. Chairish Inc. is looking for a curious and driven Merchandise Analyst. This role is equal parts merchandising analyst and retail planner, made ever more dynamic by our position at the intersection of a marketplace model and traditional ecommerce. 


As part of our Analytics team, you will provide key leadership to our assortment planning strategy; your analysis and recommendations will help us unlock opportunities across our varied inventory acquisition sources: marketplace, wholesale and development. We have a lot of levers to drive our business and we need your help determining which will make the biggest impact. 


While we have been collecting highly structured data for our 500k+ items and the behavior of 3.8 million monthly visitors, the Merchandise Analyst position is a new role at Chairish. You will help shape how we digest and act on our vast data, and how we formulate the questions we should be asking.


The ideal candidate has previous experience in an analytical or planner role, preferably in an ecommerce environment and/or online marketplace. 


Responsibilities:

  • Generate and present category-specific reports regarding: top sellers, velocity, price tranches, color, style and sell-thru

  • Advise Buying, Merchandising and Sales partners on biggest areas of assortment opportunity 

  • Leverage data insights to influence strategic development and pre-buys

  • Identify macro and micro seasonal sales trends to help inform inventory sourcing, brand messaging, and assortment editing 

  • Help forecast sales and inventory plans in conjunction with Finance team; reconcile against operating plan as needed

  • Advise on promotional period pricing and exposure strategies

  • Conduct regularly scheduled performance read-outs (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and share with cross-functional and leadership team members


Your Experience:

  • 1+ years experience working with Business Intelligence systems

  • 1+ years working with SQL and relational databases (redshift experience a plus)

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Previous experience working within consulting, analytics, or merchandise planning. Previous marketplace or ecommerce experience is a plus.

  • Experience distilling vast amounts of information into actionable, high-level recommendations

  • A proven track record of partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders

  • Interest in the home category a plus, but not required

  • Degree in an analytical field preferred: analytics, mathematics, or engineering
