Financial Analyst

Chairish makes it fun and easy for design lovers to buy and sell pre-loved decor to one another. Our shop exclusively features curator-approved treasures in a full-service and trustworthy environment.  Launched in 2013, Chairish is a rapidly growing marketplace built by an experienced entrepreneurial executive team from previous successful startups including TripIt, Hotwire, eBay, Expedia and One Kings Lane.

As one of the first members on a small team, we are looking for someone that has the ability and desire to tackle several different projects both in finance and with our inventory acquisition team. Not only will you have the opportunity to shape Chairish’s financial systems and practices managing the day-to-day accounting functions, but you will also help the inventory acquisition team measure and improve their performance. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting processes, comfort with large data sets, and ability to understand performance drivers is essential. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, obsessive about details, and wants to learn and grow with the company.


Finance, Accounting and Financial Operations:

  • Run payroll (salaries and benefits, 401k, PTO) and track by department
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations – bank, credit card, prepaid, accruals, etc 
  • Manage revenue recognition and deferral for both Chairish and DECASO
  • Support month end close with journal entries and closing schedules
  • Prepare monthly expense summaries and analysis by department
  • Partner with Marketing team on forecast and actuals
  • Perform A/P functions via – vendors, T&E and sellers
  • Prepare year-end 1099s and distribute to all vendors
  • Maintain and distribute Daily Flash report
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and modeling

Inventory Acquisition:

  • Prepare reports and analyze metrics to support the merchandising, buying and sales ops teams:
    • Daily Flash for inventory acquisition team (sellers, categories, etc.)
    • Monthly / Quarterly look-back analysis 
    • Improve dashboard views
    • Analysis on quality of sellers
    • Buying team performance 
    • Subcategory analysis 

​Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors in Finance/Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience (CPA a plus)
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and a plus
  • Ability to multi-task in a constantly changing environment
  • Self-motivated and self-managed - able to think independently, creatively, and opportunistically
