POSITION OVERVIEW

Chairish Inc. is looking for an Art Category Manager to join our growing ecommerce retail team. This is a dynamic role because it encompasses both original artist management as well as our burgeoning wholesale art category.


In this role you will provide leadership to one of our largest and most important categories. Your deep knowledge of the emerging art landscape will inform our artist roster, category assortment planning, new partnerships, and overall business optimization. You will identify key subcategory needs to offer and determine optimal pricing strategies. Because curation is a key tenant of our brand, you will have a point of view on assortment editing that is rooted in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. You will also ensure that your business tracks to our overall strategic and operating plans, all the while maintaining Chairish’s leadership at the forefront of the emerging art space. 


This role is highly collaborative and will work in tandem with our Merchandising, Sales, Marketing, and Analytics teams in order to maximize all of our opportunities for growth. Because our art category straddles two business models, we have many levers to help move our business forward. Your job will be to make sure we’re driving growth that’s not at the expense of our overall business or brand positioning. This role is remote eligible.

Responsibilities:

  • Leave no stone unturned in the hunt for the very best emerging artist talent and ensure that we are featuring a steady stream of new work

  • Provide initial assortment recommendations to new artist partners, as well as a strategic point of view on where artists best sit within our business model (e.g. commission vs. wholesale)

  • Analyze KPIs/sales trends for recommendations on subcategory, assortment, and pricing strategies; regularly communicate these findings to cross-functional partners, leadership team, and artists (as appropriate)

  • Stay on the pulse of the emerging art trends in the greater industry to maintain Chairish’s leadership in the category

  • Within wholesale category management, spearhead merchandising assortment plans for relevant subcategories

  • Proactively cultivate artist and wholesale partnerships and work to anticipate issues before they arise 

Your Experience:

  • 5+ years Buying/Merchandising experience within an e-commerce/digital environment

  • Demonstrated passion and knowledge of the art category

  • A proven track record of partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders

  • Excellent vendor/artist management skills
