Senior Architect

At CESO, a Senior Architect is responsible for leading the building design effort from start to finish and manages the production of building construction documents in accordance with local and national codes and regulations. They also take on the role of training other architects. You will have primary responsibilities that include:

  • Lead and manage architectural projects from preparation of concepts to development and through documentation that includes specifications, materials, colors, furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and estimated costs
  • Perform site visits and field measurements as required to document existing conditions for renovation projects
  • Define and communicate project scope, objectives, and schedule to staff and clients. This may include soliciting partner proposals for SMEP
  • Perform life-safety analysis and code reviews of existing and new builds to ensure design will comply with adopted codes
  • Lead the due diligence research and permit submission process
  • Develop project schedules and coordinate construction documentation
  • Coordinate with clients and vendors to ensure adherence to policies and performance measures
  • Perform contract or construction administration associated with architectural services to include RFIs, shop drawing reviews, pay application reviews, construction observations and/or final SF verification surveys
  • Understand and interpret basic building codes, code organization and determine code requirements/compliance paths for projects
  • Lead small teams to complete tasks and projects in accordance with contractual agreements
  • Attend and facilitate internal and external meetings including Planning and Zoning Board meetings and/or other meetings with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) as needed
  • Review work and provide feedback with redlines for others to update and provide QA/QC for teams
  • Understand design time and cost parameters, project financial metrics (multiplier, earned value, etc.) and work with Project Managers to keep projects within budget and on time
  • Serve as a mentor for designers and co-ops seeking to become registered Architects
  • Perform other project duties as assigned

Position requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture with 10+ years of experience with a current registration is required; or in lieu of a degree, 15+ years of experience in Architecture with a current registration
  • Architectural License (active) required
  • LEED Certification preferred
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Knowledge of Photo Editing Software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of building design and entitlement processes
  • Experience leading teams and completing projects from pre-design to occupancy
  • Ability to travel
