Senior Systems Engineer

Job Purpose

Reporting to the VP, IT, the Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining our systems infrastructure, primarily focused on VMware Vsphere / ESXi, also including Cisco UCS, Cisco MDS SAN, network switching and routing, and network firewalls. You will also be expected to have strong expertise in AWS and Azure cloud platforms.

In addition, this position will work closely with cross-functional team members to support and maintain Cendyn’ s products, including high level systems troubleshooting and support.

Job Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

• Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure components such as, Cisco UCS, SAN, network switching and routing devices, VMware, and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions that meet business requirements.
• Perform network security assessments and implement necessary measures to protect against potential threats.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement or optimization.
• Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends related to network engineering.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network and security emergencies as needed.

Job Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in network engineering roles.
• Advanced VMware Certification (s) with Minimum of 10 years’ experience.
• Strong experience with Cisco UCS, Cisco SAN, network switching and routing, and network firewalls
• Proficiency in AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Expert understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols and technologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VCAP or equivalent.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Competencies:

• Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
• Experience with Microsoft Server OS's.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Work Timings:

Monday through Friday from 12 PM to 9 PM IST to provide healthy overlap between India team and US team and supporting both to ensure adequate collaboration. This role will be working in Hybrid Mode and will require at least 2 days’ work from office at Hyderabad. Occasional evening and weekend work may be expected in case of job-related emergencies or client needs.
