Senior GCP Engineer

Job Purpose:

The individual must be able to affect change, be proactive, and be passionate about making our development lifecycle as efficient as possible by implementing and evolving DevOps practices at Cendyn. This candidate will need to have a fervor for empowering support, development, and product teams to help drive the company's success.
Job Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, implement, and manage GCP infrastructure using tools such as Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Establish and maintain automated pipelines for seamless and reliable software delivery on Google Cloud Platform.
- Monitoring and Logging: Implement robust monitoring and logging solutions for GCP resources using tools like Google Cloud Monitoring and the ELK stack. Also, engage in filtering and browsing logs to identify cloud-native application issues.
- Security: Ensure the security of GCP environments by implementing best practices, conducting regular audits, and staying informed about Google Cloud security updates.
- Scaling and Optimization: Optimize GCP resources for cost efficiency and performance, and design solutions that can scale horizontally on Google Cloud.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development and operations teams to facilitate smooth integration of DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle on Google Cloud.
- Incident Response: Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response activities on Google Cloud, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.
- Automation: Identify opportunities for automation and develop scripts or workflows to streamline repetitive tasks on Google Cloud.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for GCP infrastructure, configurations, and processes.
- Troubleshooting existing information systems for errors and providing resolutions or recommendations for resolution on Google Cloud.
- Continually review existing processes for the entire lifecycle and update or create new methods for improvement and minimizing single points of failure or wastage on Google Cloud.
- Assist in cost optimization to avoid unnecessary spending of Cloud resources on Google Cloud Platform.
Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Possess relevant Google Cloud certifications such as Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
- 8+ years of experience working in enterprise architecture and design across multiple IT functional areas involving hybrid cloud deployments.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Ruby, Python, Shell) and experience with infrastructure automation on GCP.
- 4+ years of experience in capacity planning, benchmarking, business continuity, and resiliency planning for GCP environments.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Google Cloud Build for GCP.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- Strong understanding of GCP networking principles and services.
- In-depth knowledge of GCP security best practices and experience implementing security controls on Google Cloud Platform.

Work Timings:
Monday through Friday from 12 PM to 9 PM IST to provide healthy overlap between India team and US team and supporting both to ensure adequate collaboration. This role will be working in Hybrid Mode and will require at least 2 days’ work from office at Hyderabad. Occasional evening and weekend work may be expected in case of job-related emergencies or client needs.
