Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Coordinator has oversight for all dual enrollment programs including Early College Academy (ECA) and Cecil courses offered on-site at the high schools. The Coordinator creates short and long-range strategies related to supporting and sustaining enrollment and academic success of all program participants. The Coordinator assists ECA students with the transfer process to four-year institutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Provide individual academic advising sessions to ECA students.
  2. Provide follow-up advising sessions with ECA advisees to ensure that students register in a timely manner for each semester.
  3. Communicate academic standards and policies to students and parents to assist them in a proactive manner throughout their enrollment.
  4. Collaborate with representatives from the credit faculty and continuing education to ensure that a current knowledge base of program requirements and changes are maintained.
  5. Advance the College’s completion efforts by assisting ECA students with identifying a clear pathway to graduation, transfer, and subsequent employment.
  6. Provide ECA advisee follow-up in response to faculty feedback provided through the Academic Monitoring system.
  7. Collaborate with marketing to advertise dual enrollment opportunities and recruit participants.
  8. Assist dual enrollment students in meeting their educational, transfer, and career goals.
  9. Participate and support annual programs that serve the advising needs of dually enrolled students to include student orientation, open houses, and information nights.
  10. Access student information using the Jenzabar EX software and participate in training sessions related to upgrades of the Jenzabar EX software.
  11. Maintain advising files on ECA and dually enrolled students when appropriate.
  12. Teach Freshmen Seminar at each high school that participates in the ECA.
  13. Promote ECA through information sessions throughout the year.
  14. Facilitate new student orientation sessions for ECA cohorts.

OTHER RELATED DUTIES:

  1. Participates on internal and external committees, as requested.
  2. Handles other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master’s degree required in related field.

Experience: Three years’ experience in progressively responsible professional roles within higher education. Preference given to individuals who have worked in a community college setting.

Skills/Training: Strong skills in advisement, project management, and statistical analysis are required in addition to knowledge and understanding of dual enrollment and the regulations guiding early enrollment. The ability to coordinate multiple administrative tasks and to interpret academic policy and procedures is required.

Proficiencies: Evidence of strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and accuracy skills are a must. Experience working with software applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and an integrated student information system.

Scheduling: Varied work schedule during critical periods sometimes requiring evening, Saturday, and Sunday work hours dependent on the needs of special events.  Due to the need of interaction with students, employees, and the college community this position requires in-person presence. This position is eligible for telework per the Telework Policy.

Other Requirements: Requires ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle high volumes of student demands.

Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.

This is an exempt position (not overtime eligible); Grade 115 (pay scale:$57,309-91,695). Based on the budget, the salary for the position will between $57,309-$62,000. Applicants' initial salary placement is based on internal equity and relevant candidate experience.
