Responsibilities:

Calhoun International is seeking highly-qualified Intelligence Analysts with Technical Writing and/or Editor experience to support the Headquarters, Department of the Army G-2 (HQDA G-2) with Technical Writing and Editing support at the Pentagon.  Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Assist in the development, coordination, and production of policy and guidance for Security and Intelligence functions.
  • Provide editorial review on correspondence, documents, briefings, and reports developed in the organization.
  • Serves as the publication control officer and works closely with the HQDA DCS G-2 publications champion to ensure the accurate and timely publication of Army-wide policy.
  • Review the content of reports and briefings for clarity and whether facts support recommendations and conclusions, verifies the accuracy of statistics and suggests how tabular material can be effectively presented.
  • Prioritize and manage the expedient processing of all HQDA G-2 proponent regulations. As required, writes news and feature articles of interest.
  • Keeps up-to-date on higher headquarters writing style and formats keeping action officers in the G-2 advised.
  • Updates and edits the G-2 Staff Action Guide. Maintains ODCS, G-2 organization chart of mission and functions.

Requirements:


    • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, concepts, and skills to perform duties independently, using accepted DA publications and policy.
    • Experience in editorial review on correspondence, documents, briefings, and reports developed in the organization.
    • Demonstrates a high level of expertise in writing, editing, research techniques and methods to prepare authoritative data on the programs, policies and functions of the HQDA DCS G-2.
    • Experience in analyzing content, format, and presentation of draft and final documents.
    • Capable of achieving a more organized presentation, works with the responsible HQDA G-2 action officers to produce the necessary revisions, analyses and recommendations.
    • Demonstrated knowledge to review the content of reports and briefings for clarity and whether facts support recommendations and conclusions, verifies the accuracy of statistics and suggests how tabular material can be effectively presented.
    • Serves as the publication control officer and works closely with the HQDA DCS G-2 publications champion to ensure the accurate and timely publication of Army-wide policy.
    • Capable to prioritize and manage the expedient processing of all HQDA G-2 proponent regulations. As required, writes news and feature articles of interest.
    • Capable of working closely with action officers to achieve a balance between the differing opinions so that each viewpoint is presented fairly. Identifies the need for clarifying existing or providing additional information and provides individualized guidance to action officers and review officials at all levels on how to improve written products.
    • Experience in writing guidance to advise the organization's action officers on how to recognize and correct common errors and weaknesses in writing and briefing preparation.
    • Capable of Collecting examples of current problems observed in reporting writing, identifying widespread problems and trends and summarizes the information for dissemination to all appropriate levels.
    • Keeps up-to-date on higher headquarters writing style and formats keeping action officers in the G-2 advised.
    • Updates and edits the G-2 Staff Action Guide. Maintains ODCS, G-2 organization chart of mission and functions.
    • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
    • Minimum Experience: Eight (8) years of experience as an Army Intelligence analyst with experience from tactical to strategic. Has served as a staff action officer at the HQDA (DCS, G-2 preferred) or Joint (J-2 preferred) or OSD (OUSD (I) preferred) or a closely related DOD organization/agency.

Security Clearance:

  • Current TS/SCI security clearance; candidate will be required to undergo and pass a CI-scope polygraph.
