National Accounts Manager

Job Description


The National Accounts Manager for Caldera Medical is a field-based member of the Caldera Sales team. In this newly created role, the National Accounts Manager will be responsible for developing and leveraging a thorough knowledge of the customer, industry, and competitive landscape.  In additional, the National Accounts Manager will develop a strategic customer relationship with category managers and will penetrate beyond the category manager / buyer to maximize sales opportunities with the customer.

The Position:

  • Make field visits and establish strong relationships with key decision makers and committees within buying organizations.

  • Negotiate and prepare multi-year group purchasing agreements within established guidelines.

  • Prepare and submit all formal bid requests within guidelines established.

  • Complete contract bids/negotiations with assigned government agencies, such as: Department of Defense, Veterans Administration, state agencies, etc., and complete any required compliance reports, such as, small business reports, EEOC, sales reports, etc.

  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with each assigned buying organization covering sales volume, compliance, and competitive conditions. Include key points in monthly report.

  • Closely monitor and report competitive activity, including all competitive bids at formal bid openings.

  • Work with field managers and representatives in implementing multi-source product sales and marketing strategy.

  • Manage expense budget.

  • Submit bids and sign contracts within assigned authority limits.

  • Travel: 2-3 days per week including overnight travel.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.

  • Government healthcare sales experience.  Familiarity with selling to the VA and DOD.

  • Four or more years of healthcare industry experience including two years in institutional and/or specialty sales.

  • Sales and/or marketing management preferred.

  • Four or more years of medical/surgical, device or capital equipment sales management experience preferred.

  • Key Account management experience or experience with large IDNs and/or GPO's

  • Business management skills including Forecasting, P&L and strategic planning.  Skilled in contract negotiations and implementation.

  • Deep knowledge of current healthcare industry trends and industry challenges.

  • Ability to identify and build relationships with decision influencers and key decision makers.

  • Skilled in business communications, sales presentations and influencing without formal authority.

  • Strong analytical ability.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to travel 2-3 days per week including overnight travel.
