Job Description

Sales Manager

As our Sales Manager, you’ll work alongside and manage our remote ad sales team currently spread across the US. By supporting our team, you’ll help our sellers unlock the next level in their professional development, carry larger books of business, break into new top-tier accounts and agencies, and put our strategy into action.

We are a fully distributed/remote team and stay connected through Slack. We largely work around an EST schedule but are flexible.

We've broken the role into roughly three parts, read on to learn more!

People Manager → Manage all account executives

  • Weekly 1:1’s, mentoring and coaching, goal setting

  • Running weekly sales meetings

  • Run weekly pipeline meeting and deal review

  • Recruit, onboard and train new reps, include developing a sales training program 

  • Motivate and encourage the team to excel through monetary and non-monetary incentives (commissions, contests, praise)

  • Lead by example, embody the BSA ideals (do the right thing, be a good person, don’t spend money if you don’t need to)

Manage P&L → Responsible for meeting or exceeding revenue goals set by leadership team 

  • Work with leadership to collaboratively set yearly revenue goals, quotas, and sales strategies

  • Oversee tools/software subscriptions  

  • Build a sustainable, scalable sales team and compensation program

  • Track sales team performance and provide weekly/quarterly forecasts to leadership

  • Collaborate with other teams for various projects that drive BSA forward (marketing, publisher development, publisher recruitment, etc.)

  • Manage/build BDR program using third party vendor

Media Sales → Learn the inventory inside and out, become a subject matter expert 

  • Develop deep understanding of ad inventory and key publisher relationships

  • Provide expertise when adjusting inventory pricing

  • Assist any/all sales reps on client calls

  • Relay advertiser feedback as insights to leadership team for product improvement

  • Strengthen existing verticals then launch new ones (e.g. women’s lifestyle, cannabis)

  • Manage and grow house accounts

  • Maintain industry expertise and provide continued education to the team

  • Identify industry trends and gather feedback from calls and relay to leadership for product improvement

We're ideally looking for someone with the following experience:

  • 2+ years experience managing a team of high performers

  • 5+ years experience selling complex media buys

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Deep desire to make others around you better

  • Have built something from 0 to 1

  • Fluent in advertising and media sales

  • Understands selling of complex media with past experience in non programmatic
