VIDEO: senior producer, science
Editorial | New York, NY | Full Time
We're looking for someone who is committed to running the science video team here at Insider Inc.
Day to day, that involves delegating stories, reviewing pitches, editing scripts, reviewing videos, and tracking video stats to see what's working and what needs to be changed. Long-term, the ideal candidate will help team members grow and develop to produce the best, highest quality stories and videos possible. To that end, that effort will help to build the Science YouTube channel by producing science videos that grow the subscriber base, bring in loads of views, and keep viewers watching through the duration of the video.
We need someone who is overflowing with evergreen ideas that fit the overall personality of the page, which is fun, upbeat, and caters to our audience's innate curiosity. For example, some of our biggest hits are "The most extreme births in the animal kingdom," "What happens if you hold your pee in for too long," and "Never eat the 'clean' part of moldy bread." If you're more interested in writing about topics like medical advances, climate change, and science in politics — that's a noble cause — but it's not what we're looking for. You'll lead a team of writers and video editors as well as work closely with our animations team.
Candidates should have:
- Experience managing a team
- Writing, editing, proofreading, and copy-editing skills
- An interest in developing successful videos into repeatable and compelling series for a YouTube audience
- A good understanding of YouTube and Facebook video
- The ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
This is a full-time position based out of our New York City headquarters. INSIDER offers competitive compensation packages complete with benefits.
