Staff Accountant

Finance | New York, NY | Full Time

Job Description

The staff accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for recording journal entries, preparing balance sheet account analysis, accounts payable processing, audit support, and helping to ensure the accuracy of financial statements prepared for the month-end close process.  This is an entry level position. We are looking for someone with accounting related internships and/or with up to one year of experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries, account analysis, and various month-end closing duties

  • Assist with A/P and A/R

  • Perform reconciliations and preparation of support schedules 

  • Prepare and process cash receipts

  • Assist with T&E review and processing

  • Participate in improving internal processes, systems and procedures

  • Collect appropriate data to assist with preparation of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns

  •  Prepare ad hoc analyses as needed

Desired skills 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of at least one accounting related internship

  • Exemplary attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, and manage various priorities and projects in a deadline-oriented environment.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills; able to discern alternatives and make objective recommendations

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other departments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP; Pivot Tables, etc.)

  • Experience with NetSuite a plus

  • Ability to handle financial information with discretion
