Photography fellow (FALL/WINTER)

Job Description

Insider Inc. is hiring a paid editorial fellow help take and edit images for our stories and projects. 

The Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. The photography fellow will tackle a wide range of daily assignments, including assisting on shoots for big stories and projects, shooting assignments both in-house and in the field, editing images, and pitching and executing photo essays. As a photography fellow, you’ll gain valuable experience collaborating with journalists and creative teams to brainstorm, create, and edit photo visuals covering many subjects and topics.  

For the photo team, we’re looking for someone with:

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop

  • Mac proficiency

  • Familiarity with Canon camera systems 

  • Experience with strobe studio lighting

  • Experience with graphic design, styling photoshoots, and prop selection are a plus, but not a requirement

  • A passion for visual storytelling through photography

  • Creative and conceptual thinking

  • The ability to work well under tight deadlines and to juggle multiple projects at a time

  • Comfort pitching and defending your own shoots

This is an hourly paid fellowship based out of our New York office. Fellows are encouraged to work 40 hours a week, and fellowships run for six months. Start date for this position will be in September.
