As a mobile engineer at Business Insider, your work will reach millions readers around the world every month. We face exciting challenges every day due to the demands of our growing audience and the 24/7 news cycle. We are looking for a talented iOS engineer to own development of our iPhone and iPad apps. You will join a small, agile mobile development team, where you will collaborate with engineers and product designers to design and build innovative features, and deliver a best-in-class user experience to our readers. This role is well suited for a motivated self-starter who enjoys keeping up with the latest trends and breakthroughs in mobile development, and has an interest in digital media and interesting, informative content.

You'll report directly to managers who understand technology and even write code. The mobile team has many opportunities for a motivated engineer to have a huge impact, and be recognized for it. The Insider Engineering team is a tight, collaborative group that enjoys working hard, having fun, and getting better every day.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficient with Swift and Objective-C

  • Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, etc

  • Experience with offline storage, and performance optimization in the realm of static and transitional UX

  • Experience with multithreaded development and concurrent design principles

  • Experience with dealing with REST architectures and authentication protocols (OAuth)

  • Experience with CocoaPods and dependency management in general

  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications (APN)

  • Experience with Git, Gitflow, version control, and semantic versioning strategies

  • Experience with building apps that conform to the standards of established architectural design patterns: MVC, MVVM, MVP, etc

  • Familiarity with web development fundamentals: JavaScript/HTML/CSS

  • Experience with auto-generated documentation, and a history of writing clean code and cataloging processes that have been developed

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Unit Testing, TDD and BDD

  • Experience or familiarity with React Native or Ionic Framework

  • Experience or familiarity with Continuous Integration
