Business Insider is looking for a talented buying guide updates editor to join our growing Insider Picks commerce team.

As more and more people shop online, it’s Insider Pick's job to sift through the millions of products out there to highlight the few that will add value to our readers’ lives.

Insider Picks prides itself on finding its readers the best products and deals from around the web every day — whether it’s the best sheets you can buy, a unique coffee maker, or a brand-new tech gadget. Our buying guides section crafts thoroughly researched buying guides with the best products you can buy online.

The buying guide updates editor will assist the guides editor in updating our existing (and ever-growing) library of buying guides to ensure the chosen products are still the best, the prices are correct, and the formatting is up to date. The editor will also add new products to older guides as needed. The updates editor will work with Insider Picks' analyst to prioritize updates and improve the SEO of buying guides.

There will also be opportunity to research and test products, write new buying guides, and edit new buying guides from freelancers and in-house writers.

The ideal candidate has excellent editing, writing and researching skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, is focused and detailed, and has a passion for finding the best versions of products in every category. They are confident and careful when reviewing products and can describe the pros and cons of any item with conviction, while incorporating Business Insider's voice, style, and audience in the copy.  

This is a great role for someone with editing and product journalism experience who wants to take on a mix of editing and writing. 

Responsibilities:

  • Edit and refresh our network of ~1,000 buying guides

  • Update existing guides as new products are released

  • Update prices, formatting, product selections, and copy as needed

  • Edit new buying guides as needed

  • Write thoroughly researched and thoughtful guides to help our readers shop smarter

  • Pitch new ideas that will be a hit with our audience

  • Test products in every category from tech and home to fashion, pets and more

  • Sift through tons of products to find the relevant items that resonate with our audience

Qualifications:

If you bring editing, writing, and product reviewing experience, and know how and where to find the best products around the web, this is a great job for you. SEO experience is also a plus.

Additional requirements:

  • At least 2 years of editing experience

  • At least 2 years of product reviewing and testing experience

  • At least 1 year of experience working with freelance writers

  • Strong SEO knowledge and content strategy experience is a plus

  • A basic understanding of Business Insider’s audience and writing style, and a willingness to learn our style

  • A huge interest in shopping for great products and good deals

  • Flawless grammar, spelling, and usage

  • A basic understanding of Photoshop and HTML (more than basic is a plus)
