Executive Director, Research & Insights

Job Description

Insider Inc. is seeking an Executive Director of Research & Insights to lead a small team to drive research, analytics, and insights supporting the Insider Inc. brand and publications.  If you have a strong background in market research at a digital media company, a knack for market insights and thinking outside the box and get excited by the idea of contributing to one of the world’ fastest growing media brands, then this could be the right opportunity for you.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience in all aspects of the research and analytics landscape, including leadership of primary and proprietary research studies; an awareness of and ability to fashion third party syndicated and campaign data; experience with data-driven content storytelling; and a passion for packaging market trends and category insights – all of which will help our sales and marketing teams clearly and persuasively articulate our company’s unique value proposition.     

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Oversight and management of team

  • Ownership of annual research plan, working closely with Marketing and Revenue team leadership

  • Diligent awareness of market and category trends and insight affecting our business and our clients’ businesses, with the ability to package and storytell these insights for individual client response and overall brand positioning – driving insights is essential 

  • Ability to design, field, and package proprietary first-party research that helps position Insider Inc’s thought leadership and/or that of its individual publications 

  • Ability to manage and grow a first-party panel and targeted research among panelists to helps further our brand story and category/audience reach 

  • Management of vendor relationships, contracts, and packaging of syndicated research (including Comscore, Nielsen and others) to drive brand storytelling, RFP response, and narrate brand growth and leadership 

  • Support of Marketing and Content Production teams in creation of proactive pitches and proposals


  • 7+ years media research and analysis experience

  • Strategic thinker and excellent brand storyteller 

  • Experience designing & conducting primary research studies

  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and report on media research tools and trends in support of corporate sales & revenue goals

  • Strong understanding of the digital media landscape and experience with media research & analysis, including familiarity with common research data sources such as comScore, Nielsen, Global Web Index, Crowd Tangle etc.

  • Familiarity with custom research and data management platforms

  • Extremely detail oriented and time sensitive

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote
