Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to California’s most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes, and implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veterans’ services and health care sectors.

Service Description:

The Housing Acquisitions Consultant is a contract position and will provide consulting services to Brilliant Corners’ the Moving On Initiative (MOI) Program. The Contractor’s responsibilities include identifying and securing a broad range of clean, safe, and affordable housing throughout San Francisco County and beyond. Under the supervision of the Director of Housing Services, the Contractor will partner with various property owners/operators; landlords, support services providers, public agencies, and participating funders.

The Moving On Initiative is a new low-income and affordable housing program for individuals who have experienced homelessness and or are currently homeless and may have complex physical health and behavioral health conditions. The goal of The Moving On Initiative is to secure housing for 300 people by 2019. The Housing Acquisitions Consultant will provide consultation, training and strategic outreach approaches with various Housing Services Programs within Brilliant Corners. The Consultant will plan, coordinate and communicate how to secure and provide affordable and supportive housing services for individuals who are homeless or in need of alternative housing solutions who have complex needs.

Essential Functions

  • Contractor shall identify Scattered-site rental housing units that meet the specification of the various programs including HUD Section 8 Vouchers, and other subsidy administered programs.

  • Provide solutions, recommendations and hands-on support to help ensure that all program participants are and remain successfully housed.  Support Program staff with notices of non-renewal, lease terminations, or any 3-day notice.

  • Track rental lease up progress and program based housing requirements.

  • Generate leads for prospective property owners/operators; landlords

  • Organize and maintain housing unit inventory

  • Market the housing programs to prospective landlords, property managers, and associations.

  • Develop a Set-Aside program to master lease or otherwise secure long-term access to apartments in affordable housing developments.

  • Train Housing Resource Specialists on housing unit specifications and housing requirements

Provide presentations and open house opportunities for new property owners/operators/landlords to learn about the MOI Program

 

Professional experience:

You have leasing Real Estate acquisition experience, with an emphasis on transactions in the below market rate, multi-family and property management sectors. BA/BS degree in finance, business or other related field required;

Master’s degree and/or Real Estate License preferred. You demonstrate an ability to identify, negotiate and acquire multi-unit lease agreements.

You are experienced in non-profit real estate and an expert in fair housing laws.

Position Details
Location: San Francisco, CA          
Start date: Immediately
Contractor will be paid: $80 per hour, not to exceed 52 hours per month. This is a 1099 contracted position.
Contract term is from October 15th, 2017-October 15th, 2018, with potential for renewal.
