High School Chemistry & AP Research Teacher
Location: Brave Christian High School – Dublin, CaliforniaReports To: High School Principal
Position Summary
Brave Christian High School is seeking an exceptional, faith-driven educator to teach Chemistry, AP Chemistry, AP Seminar, and AP Research. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing students into analytical thinkers, skilled researchers, and effective communicators while preparing them for success in college-level academics and STEM-related fields.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
Teach Chemistry, AP Chemistry, AP Seminar, AP Research, and other science or research courses as assigned.
Design engaging, inquiry-based lessons that emphasize scientific reasoning, problem solving, experimentation, and real-world application.
Prepare students for success on the AP Chemistry, AP Seminar, and AP Research examinations through rigorous instruction aligned with College Board expectations.
Develop and facilitate laboratory investigations that reinforce scientific concepts while emphasizing proper methodology, data collection, analysis, and scientific communication.
Guide AP Seminar students in developing advanced skills in research, collaboration, academic writing, presentation, and evidence-based argumentation.
Mentor AP Research students through the complete independent research process, including question development, literature review, research design, data analysis, academic writing, and formal presentation.
Utilize technology and scientific tools to enhance learning and foster student engagement.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students while maintaining high expectations.
Laboratory & Classroom Management
Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped chemistry laboratory.
Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inventory of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and instructional materials.
Teach and enforce all laboratory safety procedures in accordance with school policies and industry best practices.
Foster a classroom culture characterized by curiosity, respect, collaboration, responsibility, and academic integrity.
Research & College Readiness
Prepare students for college-level expectations in scientific inquiry, academic writing, and independent research.
Teach students to evaluate sources, analyze evidence, synthesize information, and communicate research findings effectively.
Encourage interdisciplinary connections between science, mathematics, humanities, and technology.
Support students pursuing STEM majors and careers by providing academic guidance and mentorship.
Faith Integration
Integrate biblical truth thoughtfully into science instruction, emphasizing that faith and scientific discovery complement one another.
Model Christian character, humility, integrity, servant leadership, and professionalism.
Participate actively in chapel services, prayer, faculty devotions, and the spiritual life of the school.
Student Support & Mentorship
Build meaningful relationships with students that encourage academic growth, spiritual maturity, and personal responsibility.
Provide additional academic support through office hours, tutoring opportunities, or intervention when appropriate.
Mentor students in developing strong study habits, organizational skills, scientific reasoning, and independent learning.
Encourage student participation in science fairs, academic competitions, research symposiums, and STEM-related extracurricular opportunities.
Collaboration & School Involvement
Collaborate with fellow faculty members to strengthen interdisciplinary learning and curriculum alignment.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, accreditation initiatives, and school events.
Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress and academic expectations.
Serve as a positive ambassador for Brave Christian High School and contribute to the school's vibrant community culture.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Science Education, or a closely related field.
Valid California teaching credential (or ability to obtain one).
Demonstrated knowledge of chemistry content and laboratory instruction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent classroom management and organizational abilities.
Personal commitment to the Christian faith and agreement with Brave Christian High School's mission and Statement of Faith.
Experience preparing students for AP examinations.
Experience supervising student research projects.
Familiarity with laboratory management and chemical safety protocols.

Work Schedule
