ABOUT US:

Braintrust (usebraintrust.com) is a user-controlled talent network, where you keep 100% of what you earn and actually get to own the platform. We've been onboarding some big clients and specifically need an experienced content architect with extensive experience using Contentful to join this highly innovative team.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT & PROJECT

You will be working within our client's Innovation Ecosystem. The innovation team was built to rethink how a 150-year-old company will evolve in response to the changing landscape.

Through our team, we’ve leveraged innovation methodologies like Design Thinking, Journey Mapping, Sprint, and Agile to support our enterprise partners to innovate on products and services. Our client's projects are foundational for many of the transformations they are undertaking today.

The Project: The team is looking for a Software Architect to help lead their next journey transformation project, to reimagine and develop a new platform / portal for our customers to manage their business with us. They want to be an industry leader in helping customers interact with us in an efficient, user-friendly, and modern fashion.

Their journey transformation process starts with the user. You'll spend the first phase of the project conducting iterative user research interviews to guide the direction and design of our product strategy. You'll also spend that time familiarizing ourselves with our existing software architecture to inform the development strategy and research into potential solutions. From there, you'll continue a cycle of designing & testing with users towards designing a first release solution. The team will then start to build the solution with the goal of launching a first release within a few months.

The core research and design team will be You (technical lead), our Navigator (project lead), Product Owner (business side), Scrum Master, UX Designer, and our Business Analyst (business ops side). As they move into development, they will be partnering with engineering and potentially more design support. Their goal is to have our MVP complete in the next 6 months.

What You’ll Do:

In the design & research phase of the project, you’ll lead investigations into the best solutions for our user’s needs and help us decide what to build. You’ll also help us to launch the development team with engineering resources & methodologies, leveraging internal and external resources as needed. As we get closer to knowing our final solution, you’ll help navigate the internal conversations necessary to ensure our solution integrates well with our existing systems.

They have a mix of modern and old systems in our current architecture and our final solution will need to integrate with both. They've stood up Mulesoft as our integration layer, but new APIs will likely need to be coordinated with their Core Engineering team to connect with their legacy mainframe systems.

Once they move into the build phase, you’ll lead our engineering team in architecting the solution and helping to run successful sprints (with the support of a Product Owner and Scrum Master). They plan to build the front end solution in React but are flexible with the framework decisions for the other pieces. The team will work with you in 2 week sprints towards that first release.

Technical Requirements:

  • Knowledge of frontend & backend systems
  • Familiar with React JS
  • Experience with architecting enterprise solutions
  • Experience with leading engineering teams

Nice to have:

  • Mulesoft experience

You’re the right candidate if:

  • Your profile showcases high-quality projects you have already completed, we will review your project portfolio first!
  • You ask thoughtful questions that allow you to grasp the larger problem.
  • You need minimal oversight and can roll up your sleeves to get it done.
  • Have an eye for UI/UX design and shoot for a high-quality, seamless, experience.
  • Have an innovation mindset
  • Be a problem solving optimist

ABOUT THE HIRING PROCESS

Qualified candidates will be invited to fill out a short screening questionnaire and learn more about our model.  If we determine it is the right fit for both parties, we'll invite you to join the platform and create a profile to apply directly for this project.  Candidates will be invited to bid on additional projects that are a fit as well.
