Product Owner

Engineering | Remote | Full Time

Job Description

JOB TYPE: Freelance, Contract Position - No agencies (See notes below)

LOCATION: Remote (TimeZone: Open to global talent, but must be able to commit to a full work-day on PST)

HOURLY RANGE: Our client is looking to pay $80-90 USD / HR

ESTIMATED DURATION: Full Time 6-month project (with potential to extend)


Braintrust ( is a user-controlled talent network, where you keep 100% of what you earn and actually get to own the platform. We've been onboarding some big clients and specifically need a Product Owner for our client.  

About the role/ project

We have an immediate need for a Product Owner to step into and help drive one of our client projects to success. This project will require particularly skillful collaboration, stakeholder management, and drive towards a milestone from the Product Owner.

You'll be collaborating with a full time Product Manager who will be focused on business development and epic definition, as well as a designer and engineers. You will also be liaising closely with the client.

This is a full time, six month project (with potential to extend) with a client in the compliance automation space. You’ll be working remotely with team mates in the pacific (PST/PDT) timezone.

Client’s desired outcomes

  1. Launch Alpha with at least one customer (~ November 2021)
    • Define and develop Alpha product
    • Assess readiness for Alpha launch via pilot launch
  2. Define and develop products on future roadmap (Q1 2022)


The Senior PM will be focused on the Why. The PO will be focused on the What and How in collaboration with Design and Eng.  


  • Confident writing user stories and facilitating sprint ceremonies
  • Worked closely with software developers and designers
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment (ScrumMaster qualification is a plus)
  • Has been part of a team that has shipped at least one major software product from concept to launch
  • Worked at either a startup, a small tech firm or an agency
  • Tested a software product with customers in the field
  • Makes cost/value tradeoffs informed by data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken)
