Job Overview
The Vice President of Development is responsible for leading BLUE Missions’ development and fundraising efforts, driving revenue growth, and building strategic partnerships. This role will oversee all aspects of development, including donor relations, grant writing, corporate sponsorships, and community engagement. The VP of Development plays a key role in advancing BLUE's mission by securing financial support and strengthening our impact within the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet and exceed annual revenue targets.
- Design and execute a multi-channel approach for donor engagement, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and events.
- Work closely with the CEO to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals and ensure financial sustainability.
- Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors and stakeholders to cultivate loyalty and increase long-term support.
- Lead efforts to identify, engage, and cultivate new high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Oversee donor recognition initiatives and ensure a high level of donor satisfaction and retention.
- Grant Writing & Management
- Identify, apply for, and secure grant funding from governmental agencies, foundations, and philanthropic organizations.
- Manage grant reporting, ensuring that all funders receive timely and accurate updates on the impact of their contributions.
- Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships
- Develop and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors to secure partnerships that align with BLUE Missions’ values and objectives.
- Collaborate with the COO to identify opportunities for corporate sponsorships and in-kind support.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing development team, setting clear objectives and tracking progress toward key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and achieving ambitious fundraising goals.
- Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Represent BLUE Missions at events, conferences, and community initiatives to strengthen visibility and engagement.
- Lead efforts to increase awareness of BLUE's impact and initiatives within the community and among key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior development role, with a track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising targets.
- Extensive knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor cultivation, and relationship management.
- Demonstrated success in grant writing and securing funding from diverse sources, including foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience building and managing a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a talent for building relationships and engaging diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative fundraising initiatives.
- Passionate about BLUE Missions’ mission and committed to expanding its impact.
