The Internship
Only active students (undergraduate or graduate programs) or recent graduates (within 6 months of applying) will be considered for the internship.
The paid internship will be entirely remote in light of COVID-19 and with your health and safety in mind. There will be extensive programming accommodated for a virtual environment, so you can make the most of your time at Bleacher Report and learn the ins-and-outs of our exciting industry alongside your fellow interns.
Our 10-week summer internship program will kick off June 7th and commence on or before August 13th.
The Team
HighlightHER is the fastest growing women in sports brand and we're looking for the next generation of storytellers to join our team. HighlightHER covers everything you need to see HER do in sports and culture. We’re a small team with a goal to empower sisterhood and amplify real women, real stories.
HighlightHER is a key part of the Bleacher Report/Turner Sports portfolio, representing one of the most influential media brands for women sport fans. With close to 100K followers, HighlightHER is the heartbeat of women sports fans, who gravitate to the brand because of its authentic voice which celebrates sisterhood and empowers women.
The HighlightHER team is responsible for curating, sourcing, evaluating, captioning, and posting all content that appears on HighlightHER’s social handles. They are the ultimate decision-makers about what gets posted and when, and what type of content performs well. They are the experts on HighlightHER’s voice and audience. This group assists in ideation for original content, and plays a part in the sales process by helping vet creative ideas and execute sold campaigns. They provide guidance on content/programming plans around tentpole events, constantly sourcing viral UGC, and are responsible for social community management and engagement (DMs, comments section, etc.) The intern will learn programming, production, storytelling skills and more with an ambitious team, powered by House of Highlights.
The Daily
Discover and curate social content that aligns with HighlightHER’s brand pillars and engages with the Gen Z audience
Work closely with other programmers to check copy and properly distribute content
Collaborate with other programming groups to align on voice and ensure differentiation across other media outlets
Provide innovative ideas to grow our Instagram following
Contribute to HighlightHER original content production
Pitch ideas and concepts that can help amplify women in sports and culture
The Essentials
Social media is your second language
Deep knowledge and passion across all social media platforms (particularly Instagram, YouTube and TikTok)
Ability to do baseline photo and video editing
Real familiarity with HighlightHER brand, voice and mission
Proactive, not afraid to pitch ideas and break the status quo
Team player, can take constructive criticism
Passion for sports and the WNBA community specifically
Superb organizational and communications skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and own projects
Interns MUST be matriculating college students (undergrad or grad)
Students with a communications/journalism background preferred
Willing and able to work night and weekend hours
Extensive knowledge of women’s sports (WNBA, NWST, NCAA, etc)
Experience in content creation, production or media a plus
Ambitious college student with a strong voice and go-getter attitude
Enthusiasm and excitement around creating new lanes and stories for women in sports and culture
