About the Business Strategy & Operations team:

The Business Strategy & Operations group plays a core role in maintaining/optimizing B/R’s existing businesses (including content creation, programming/distribution, and supporting our ad-driven revenue products) and exploring, building, or piloting new ones. The team will play a key role in external-focused initiatives (understanding market trends and competitive shifts, identifying opportunities for expansion or partnership, evaluating new business models, etc.) and internal-focused initiatives (goal setting, company communication, etc.).


Partner with senior leadership (strategy, operations, BD, content, revenue, product/engineering, etc.) on a variety of strategic projects. Help define and measure progress towards business goals for specific initiatives, and work with senior leadership across the organization to determine what is working (and where/how we should expand) vs. not working (and where/how we should scale back). Assist with – and lead elements of – annual strategic and budget planning processes, company- and team-level KPI setting processes, and more.

  • Ownership or support of strategic and/or operational initiatives 
    1. Company- and team-level KPI setting and creation of accountability for teams to drive towards those goals
    2. Strategic management offsite planning, facilitation, and optimization over time
    3. Market or competitive analyses, business model creation, etc.
    4. Ensuring strong company communication around key initiatives
    5. One-off operational projects in partnership with specific parts of the organization
  • New opportunities 
    1. Market or competitive analyses, business model creation, etc.
    2. Evaluation of new opportunities in partnership with senior leadership across the business (including new opportunities to be built, potential partnerships/acquisitions, and so on); measurement of success/failure of existing initiatives


  • College degree required. Masters degree (especially MBA) preferred
  • 6-8+ years work experience in strategy/operations, consulting, finance, tech, media, start-ups, or other related fields
  • Experience managing small teams directly and influencing large departments/teams indirectly
  • Experience building/overseeing business cases and simple financial models; ability to perform analysis on and uncover insights from data; ability to oversee projects of this nature but simultaneous willingness to roll up his/her sleeves and do the work him/herself
  • Ability to own a project independently start-to-finish AND communicate up, down, and across thoroughly throughout scope of project
  • Strong understanding of digital/mobile/social media space and of relevant sports media properties (B/R and others); proven interest in the direction the space is heading
