About You:

· Current registered nurse licensure with the Ghana Nurses and Midwifery Council

· Minimum of four years perioperative / critical care with Ghana Nurses and Midwifery Council preferred.

· Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

· Complete annual education requirements

. Accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, direct and indirect patient/family cantered care across the continuum of perioperative

Responsibilities:

  • · Creates and conveys the mission and vision of the perioperative services with the assistance of the management team.

    · Provide safe and effective patient-centered care in perioperative services.

    · Ensure patients are prepared for surgery including calling patients the night before scheduled procedure date to answer questions and confirm that preoperative orders are understood.

    · Administer required medications and monitor patient vital signs.

    · Assist surgeon, physician with the operation providing the correct surgical instruments throughout the procedure as a scrub nurse.

    · As scrub nurse or a circulator, ensure that appropriate equipment is in place throughout the procedure.

    · In case of any abnormality noticed in the patient, they will report to the surgeon to determine whether surgery should be performed as scheduled or postponed.

    · Ensure that the operating room surgical equipment is in place and assist Lead OR nurse in planning for the surgical/sterilization plan for the operating day.

    · Assist preoperative personnel with cleaning the operating room in between surgeries.

    · Verifies that equipment is ready according to the surgeon’s preference card for the operating room and reports any equipment concerns expeditiously.

    · Demonstrate effective communication, collaboration skills, patient eductaion skills.

    · Assist in collecting data related to quality of performance improvement projects that apply to perioperative services.

    · Assist with flow of patients which could include preoperative and post operative patient management as needed.

    · Document patient medications, conditions, education and surgical equipment and procedure completely in the Medent Medical Record System
