Inventory Controller - (Nairobi Site)

This position reports to the Factory Manager and will oversee the control, recording, monitoring, storage, and movement of the physical and system inventory. The Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring on-time and accurate data entry of the inventories in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. The performance measures for the Inventory Controller include the housekeeping of her/his storage, the accuracy of physical inventory against system stocks and the timely and accurate consolidation of stocks when recall exercises are undertaken by the food safety team.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Supports team members in delivering their objectives by providing the correct training, documentation, tools, and a safe workplace.
  • Engages in the daily production planning function to optimize the procurement of ingredients through to the production for supply to customers.
  • Conducts daily departmental briefings to inform her/his department of the day's schedule, as well as reflecting on the previous day's output, including all relevant KPls such as productivity, process yields, food quality, and health and safety.
  • Maintains 100% accuracy of physical stock by ensuring all data entry is fulfilled in line with stock transactions.
  • Ensures product traceability accuracy through implementing strict disciplines and processes, including the capacity to reconcile 100% of stock.
  • Collaborates frequently with other departments to optimize inventory to meet business objectives.
  • Maintains all department procedures and documentation, including operation method statements, data entry forms etc.
  • Reviews and ensures that daily inventory movement is promptly updated in the system (within the same day), taking immediate remedial action where necessary.
  • Audit compliance to receiving procedures paying attention to accuracy of weight, condition, shelf life, temperature, traceability, and documentation.
  • Prepare and present regular inventory function reports to management.
  • Identifying training needs for subordinates and recommending interventions.
  • Contributes to production management meetings through discussing department performance, efforts to deliver continuous improvement, and responding to outstanding matters relating to inventory accuracy, quality, health, and safety, or other performance KPls.
  • Supports the continuous improvement culture by highlighting areas of waste that, when successfully addressed, can lead to financial savings for the business.
  • Executing any other relevant duties assigned.


Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant numeracy business discipline.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in the manufacturing setup.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing platform of enterprise resource planning (ERP)
