Lead Engineer (B2C) - Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC)

As a Lead Engineer you will participate in eCommerce and omnichannel implementations, utilizing SFCC, providing both oversight and hands on contributions to the software design, development, and integration. The candidate will be responsible to provide technical guidance to systems analysts and other team members. The right candidate demonstrates technical expertise, strong communication skills, and leadership in collaboration with key cross functional teams.

This position is Monday – Friday, Full-Time, 40 hours a week on a hybrid schedule. You will work in office 2 days a week

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external project teams to help define, build, and support omnichannel efforts that work seamlessly across different devices, browsers, and digital and in store experiences
  • Provide technical oversight and big-picture oversight for development of implementations on the Commerce Cloud platform
  • Develop technical implementation plans and timelines with key engineering stakeholders and enterprise standards
  • Identify and enforce overall technology principles, framework and standards. Enforce and guide a technical and code review process to ensure all solutions are thoroughly vetted
  • Align the platform vision and overall roadmap with the technical requirements of the SFCC stack
  • Communicate technical needs and limitations clearly and effectively
  • Provide assessments and recommendations on the design of e-commerce systems, while integrating components built by developers and ensuring platform integrity of the system
  • Provide advanced-level development and documentation skills
  • Provide strong testing and debugging skills at all levels, including unit, system, integration and performance testing
  • Leverage creative problem-solving skills to help the team bring projects in below budget and within deadlines
  • Provide suggestions and recommendations to keep internal coding standards up to date; help to identify areas for efficiency across disciplines
  • Providing feasibility analysis and doing POC’s for third party SFCC cartridge integrations
  • Serve as a lead developer of a small team - offering support and training when required
  • Assist with the technical design, using object-oriented design techniques
  • Assist with the estimation of development tasks

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or related preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a client facing role
Required Qualifications:
  • Solid grasp of SFCC/Demandware API and development patterns and Salesforce Reference Architecture (SFRA)
  • Preferred: SFCC Developer/Architect Certification
  • Full stack development experience (both front-end and back-end)
  • Solid grasp of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript; Cross-browser compatibility, W3C compatibility
  • Prior development experience in Javascript (node.js) along with, PHP, SQL
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript (both server and client side)
  • Experience working in all phases of the product development lifecycle from requirements gathering to final delivery and support
  • Experience in handling at least multiple end to end SFCC development/implementation projects with wide landscape of across various departments
  • Strong understanding of e-Commerce ecosystems and processes that include end-to-end data flows and processing from order management, inventory management, fulfilment, payment processors, customer service and other technologies that support a successful omnichannel strategy such as CRM, OMS, and ERP
  • In-depth knowledge of various client side and server-side technologies
  • Exposure to PII & PCI policies as well as Ecommerce security
  • Jira, Confluence, GitHub, BitBucket experience
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a fantastic attention to detail
  • Ability to lead, direct and challenge teams in process, methods and approach
  • Ability to multi task and successfully function in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Communicate effectively to IT management as well as business area experts with skills such as empathetic and active listening, and clearly and patiently articulate solutions
  • Self-driven and motivated
  • Experience working in a multi-brand environment
