AGENCY MISSION AND VISION
The mission of BAYCAT is to educate, empower and employ underserved youth and young adults to produce digital media that tells their unique stories and engages them to positively transform themselves, their communities and the world. BAYCAT believes every person’s story matters. We envision a world where media and technology facilitate the telling and the hearing of stories from the broadest possible range of experiences in a way that moves people to create positive change in their communities.
BAYCAT is a community media producer of San Francisco – developing messages by the people, for the people. A dynamic emerging social enterprise, BAYCAT educates, empowers, and employs. We offer free classes in film/TV production, audio/music production, animation, and graphic/web design, primarily to the youth and young adults in Bayview Hunters Point, historically one of the most underserved communities in the city. BAYCAT then hires our graduates through our enterprise arm, Studio BAYCAT, to produce professional marketing communication materials for clients that include businesses, government, local Bayview merchants and nonprofits. BAYCAT inspires young adults to stay in school and become lifelong learners, and empowers them to use the power of media and design to shape their communities.
