A leading electronics testing company is seeking a System Engineer - Hardware Support to support the development and reliability of next-generation nanopore sequencing and sample preparation platforms. This role focuses on troubleshooting, failure analysis, root cause investigations, and system optimization across hardware, software, and assay environments supporting advanced sequencing technologies.
System Engineer - Hardware Support Responsibilities:
- Become a subject matter expert on the company's Sequencing Platform and Sample Prep platform to support system functionality, reliability, and minimal downtime across hardware, software, and assay operations.
Collaborate with engineering, instrument, reagent, device, and lab teams to investigate failures, identify root causes, troubleshoot issues, and support implementation of solutions to improve platform robustness and performance. - Support laboratory teams with troubleshooting activities involving sequencing systems, microfluidics, liquid handlers, diagnostic systems, and assay-level processes in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple concurrent issues.
- Execute experiments, testing protocols, and instrument development activities to validate platform functionality, support product development, and ensure accurate system performance.
- Communicate investigation findings, technical updates, and solution recommendations clearly across cross-functional teams while maintaining detailed documentation, electronic records, and statistical analysis of system data.
System Engineer - Hardware Support Qualifications:
- 1-2+ years of experience supporting, troubleshooting, or developing complex systems in biotechnology, diagnostics, sequencing, microfluidics, liquid handling, or related environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience performing troubleshooting, root cause investigations, failure analysis, or defect management within development or operational settings.
- Understanding of sequencing methodologies and next-generation sequencing technologies.
- Experience supporting hardware and software instrument systems in laboratory or engineering environments.
- Strong analytical skills with an understanding of statistical methods and data analysis tools such as JMP or R.
- Experience with Python or other programming languages is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent written documentation and electronic recordkeeping skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Shift:
- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
