A leading university is seeking a Sr. Privacy Operations Officer. The successful candidate will provide seasoned judgement, leadership, and subject matter expertise across the Office’s many services and programs. The company offers a great work environment!

Sr. Privacy Operations Officer Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all privacy operations activities and ensure quality control compliance.
  • Provide expert privacy guidance on complex matters.
  • Conduct privacy assessments for projects, systems, and departments.
  • Work closely with and respond to requests from Data Protection Champions.
  • Monitor developments and trends in privacy and formulate a strategy accordingly.
  • Coordinate incident response and investigations.

Sr. Privacy Operations Officer Qualifications:

  • 7 years of privacy work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Professional privacy certification (e.g. CIPP, PECB/CDPO, CPD etc).
  • Experience with privacy management tools, e.g. OneTrust.
  • Legal experience is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education, health care organizations, or research institutions is preferred.
  • Experience creating and conducting AI assessments.
  • Expert knowledge of global data protection and privacy laws (e.g. GDPR, LGPD, PIPL and PIPA).
  • Practical experience in responding to data security incidents.
  • Experience working with vendors and other third parties.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating privacy contracts.
  • Broad knowledge of privacy regulations pertinent to the University (FERPA, HIPAA, CA 1798.82, and CMIA), and subject matter expertise in one or more.
  • Demonstrated practical privacy operations experience.
  • Experience leading successful data protection risk management programs.
  • Proven track record of pragmatism, sound judgement, and balanced risk management.
  • Sound knowledge of information technology is a plus.
  • Broad understanding of modern information technology systems and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with modern collaboration tools such as video conferencing, instant messaging, document management, wikis, calendaring, ticketing, etc.

Shift:

  • 15-25 hours a week, Monday to Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
