A leading music streaming company seeks a Senior Quality Engineer to ensure the reliability, usability, and quality of a B2B background music and messaging platform through manual, exploratory, and risk-based testing, with targeted automation where it adds value.
Senior Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute manual testing for new features, bug fixes, integrations, and existing functionality across web, mobile, media players, and related platforms, including functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, and integration testing, and reproduce, investigate, document, and communicate defects with clear technical detail.
- Collaborate with software engineers and product managers to clarify requirements, validate fixes, identify risks, and improve product quality, and take part in release-readiness discussions to determine whether functionality is ready for delivery.
- Manage testing tasks and larger quality initiatives from planning through completion, tracking progress, maintaining test cases and documentation, and clearly communicating status, risks, blockers, and coverage.
- Decide when manual testing is the right approach and when automation will provide greater value, evaluating opportunities by product risk, repeatability, execution frequency, maintenance cost, and expected return, and design, implement, maintain, and execute targeted automated tests for stable, high-value scenarios.
- Use AI models and tools to support exploratory testing, generate test ideas and scenarios, validate software changes, and identify potential regressions, applying human judgment to AI-generated findings, while identifying improvements to testing processes, tools, documentation, and team practices and investigating new testing technologies.
Senior Quality Engineer Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, or a similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
- Strong experience performing manual testing of web applications, services, APIs, mobile applications, or connected devices.
- Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions about manual testing versus test automation.
- Experience creating clear, actionable defect reports and collaborating with engineers through triage and resolution.
- Experience working in an Agile, cross-functional software development environment.
- Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira or TestRail.
- Experience with at least one test automation tool or framework, such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.
- Working knowledge of web technologies and software delivery concepts, including HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, APIs, browsers, and device-based testing.
- Extensive experience using AI models and tools to assist with software testing, exploratory analysis, defect investigation, test data generation, change validation, or regression detection is preferred.
- Experience integrating AI-assisted quality controls into CI/CD pipelines or other development workflows is preferred.
- Experience improving test strategy, introducing automation selectively, or establishing quality practices for a small engineering team is preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution is preferred.
- Experience testing streaming, media, audio, messaging, SaaS, or other distributed applications is preferred.
- Experience testing media players, connected devices, mobile applications, or hardware/software integrations is preferred.
