A leading biotechnology company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of next-generation consumable fluidic devices for an innovative single-molecule DNA sequencing platform. This role will contribute to flowcell manufacturing, process development, component testing, mechanical characterization, and engineering support activities while collaborating closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and manufacturing of consumable fluidic devices by performing flowcell manufacturing, assembly, process development, and assisting senior engineers with SolidWorks design activities.
  • Perform dimensional and mechanical measurements, surface metrology, component testing, quality inspections, visual inspections, and data analysis to evaluate product performance and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Prepare samples for external analysis, document test results, generate reports, and support engineering investigations and development activities.
  • Manage component and subcomponent inventory, prepare and receive shipments, and maintain laboratory materials and engineering resources to support ongoing projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to execute multiple laboratory and manufacturing activities while supporting project timelines and continuous product development.

Mechanical Engineer Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of professional engineering experience; hands-on laboratory, manufacturing, or engineering internship experience is preferred.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or equivalent engineering software.
  • Experience supporting mechanical testing, manufacturing, process development, laboratory experiments, or product development.
  • Knowledge of microfabrication, microfluidics, materials science, or fluidic device development is preferred.
  • Familiarity with metrology equipment, microscopy, or surface characterization techniques is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
