A leading university is seeking an IT Project Manager to join the University IT Project Management Office. The successful candidate will primarily support key network-focused projects such as wired and wireless network refresh efforts, securing campus networks, central proxy service evaluation, and the assessment and potential replacement of the NetDB system.
IT Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Contribute to telecom-related initiatives that enhance campus communication capabilities. This includes projects such as the Next Generation 911 proof of concept (POC), aimed at modernizing emergency response systems, and Distributed Antenna System (DAS) installations to improve indoor cellular coverage across university facilities
- Support large and complex new building and renovation projects, working with Land, Buildings and Real Estate (LBRE), the IT Infrastructure team, and other UIT groups.
- Work closely with multiple teams, including A/V, Networking, Security, Voice, Video, and UIT Card Services, to develop and carry out a coordinated project plan.
- Manage competing priorities, make independent decisions, and keep IT tasks on track, on budget, and aligned with the overall project schedule.
IT Project Manager Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of related experience in the management of projects with extensive size/complexity and moderate performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is strongly desired.
- Experience with managing network and IT technical infrastructure components/projects for new and/or updated buildings.
- Understanding of basic telecom/VoIP mechanics (e.g. VoIP, PBX, Call Manager, Contact Center, paging, TDM), Audio/Visual, Card Key and basic knowledge of service delivery and operation strongly desired.
- Experience with developing and managing IT and construction budgets.
- Proven experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies strongly desired.
- Knowledge of project management tools and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Proven experience in people, change, risk, and conflict management is strongly desired.
- Successful track record of delivering enterprise-wide IT infrastructure projects such as VoIP/telephony, networking (wired and wireless network and firewall), Audio Visual (A/V), mobile networking, and cabling infrastructure for new buildings and building renovations.
- A good communicator, detail-oriented, provides good meeting notes, can lead and guide the team, and can easily assimilate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Shift:
- 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
