A leading university is seeking an Interior Design Assistant to support interior design projects from concept through documentation. The ideal candidate demonstrates proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications, experience developing furniture and finish plans, and strong organizational skills to support field verification activities, finish selections, and design documentation.

Interior Design Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update interior design documentation, including furniture plans, finish plans, elevations, and supporting drawing packages using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Assist with the creation of design palettes, finish boards, material selections, and presentation materials to support project design objectives.
  • Conduct field verification activities, including site visits to document existing conditions, take measurements, photograph spaces, and validate interior finish conditions.
  • Support furniture and finish specification efforts by researching products, maintaining project documentation, and coordinating design information with project stakeholders.
  • Assist project teams with design coordination, drafting revisions, and other project-related tasks while ensuring accuracy, organization, and adherence to project timelines.

Interior Design Assistant Qualifications:

  • 1 year of professional experience within an architecture or interior design firm.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Interior Architecture.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience developing and drafting furniture plans, finish plans, and elevations is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit is preferred.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and rendering is preferred.
  • Experience creating design palettes and assembling finish boards is highly preferred.
  • Experience performing field verification of existing interior conditions is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of interior finishes and furniture specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional project teams.
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work, including taking measurements and photographs on-site.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Shift:

  • Might be required to drive up to an hour a day around campus.
