A leading medical institution is seeking an Industry Contracts Associate Officer with life sciences contracting experience to support its Industry Contracts Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and executing a high volume of industry-sponsored research agreements in compliance with university policies, government regulations, and intellectual property standards.
Industry Contracts Associate Officer - Life Sciences Pay and Benefits:
- Hourly pay: $40/hr

- 40 hours/week, 6 Month Assignment
Industry Contracts Associate Officer - Life Sciences Responsibilities:
- Negotiate industry-sponsored agreements, including material transfer agreements and nondisclosure agreements, applying intellectual property, risk management, regulatory compliance, and university policies and principles.
- Under general supervision, assist with conducting legal and/or policy analysis and recommend exceptions to policy and advise researchers on basic contracts and agreements in sponsored and collaborative research agreements including intellectual property clauses.
Industry Contracts Associate Officer - Life Sciences Qualifications:
- BA/BS.
- An advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience in industry, preferably in the biotech, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or technology industries.
- University research administration experience.
- Experience in negotiating and/or managing one or more of the following - clinical trial agreements, industry collaboration agreements, industry-sponsored research agreements and/or material transfer agreements, with special attention to intellectual property issues including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and software administration and licensing is preferred.
- Business development and/or contracts experience, including drafting and negotiating agreements.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different rules, systems, and sponsor requirements.
- Working knowledge of and application of standard principles, theories, and concepts such as laws, regulations, and practices pertaining to the protection and management of intellectual property, university technology transfer, and general scientific and/or technical skills in the subject matter area is preferred.
- Skill in analyzing information and objectives to define problems, ability to identify relevant issues or concerns, formulate alternatives to affect resolution, and select alternative resolutions having evaluated risk benefit; ability to interpret the varying objectives and needs of investigators and sponsors in order to provide advice on appropriate mechanisms for support.
- Demonstrated customer service skills in a fast-paced, high-volume, dynamic, and intellectually challenging work environment. Sensitivity to sponsor and investigator confidentiality.
- Knowledge of intellectual property law is preferred.
- Knowledge of university policies and practices concerning industry relations is preferred.
Shift:
- M-F 08:00 am - 05:00 pm - Pacific time office hours.
