A leading biotechnology company is seeking an EHS & Facilities Coordinator to support facility operations, environmental health & safety compliance, hazardous materials handling, and vendor coordination in a fast-paced onsite environment. This role combines hands-on facility support with safety and regulatory compliance responsibilities to ensure operational efficiency and workplace safety.

EHS & Facilities Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate day-to-day facility maintenance activities, serve as the primary point of contact for building operations issues, and oversee vendors supporting HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial, and general facility repairs.
  • Classify, package, mark, label, and document outbound dangerous goods and hazardous materials in compliance with DOT, IATA, IMDG, RCRA, EPA, and other applicable environmental and transportation regulations.
  • Support hazardous waste accumulation, storage, disposal, manifest preparation, and hazardous waste area inspections while maintaining accurate safety logs, SDS records, chemical inventories, and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as an active member of the on-site Emergency Spill Response Team by participating in emergency drills, maintaining spill kits, and responding safely to incidental chemical or material releases.
  • Inspect and maintain facility safety infrastructure, including eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, loading docks, office setups, furniture coordination, and common area organization while supporting additional operational projects as assigned.

EHS & Facilities Coordinator Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, logistics, environmental health & safety, or related operational roles.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental health & safety regulations and hazardous materials compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting hazardous waste management, dangerous goods shipping, safety compliance documentation, and facility operations.
  • DOT HazMat (49 CFR), RCRA Hazardous Waste Management, HAZWOPER 40-Hour, and IATA/IMDG certifications are preferred, or a willingness to obtain immediately upon hire is required.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills with the ability to balance physical operational tasks and detailed compliance documentation.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a proactive ownership mindset.
  • Comfortable working on feet for extended periods and safely lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong communication and vendor coordination skills.
