A leading digital streaming company is looking for an Editorial Assistant to serve as an advertising writer for the Creative Solutions team and their innovative in-house advertising and branding agency. This is an entry level creative copy writing role working with different mediums and voices and formats to promote the company’s brand initiatives. The ideal candidate is keen to learn more about the media industry and how a thriving, multifunctional creative group operates. This position is an entryway into our writing staff, so creative writing experience is necessary.
Editorial Assistant Responsibilities:
- Supporting Editorial team on projects with writing, research and brainstorming
- Partnering with designers and video specialists to develop ideas that translate across multiple platforms — film, digital, social, experiential, print and OOH, for internal and external audiences
- Writing everything from taglines, headlines and social copy to short- and long-form content for a wide range of marketing touchpoints
- Ensuring brand voice, tone and narrative consistency across all materials
- Presenting creative concepts and rationale to internal stakeholders
- Conducting periodic industry analysis — i.e., trends in entertainment marketing, storytelling formats, fandom behavior and best-in-class creative — and translating it into presentations
- Creating content for department Slack channels
Editorial Assistant Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of experience; recent graduates encouraged to apply
- B.A. required (English, Advertising, Communications or Journalism major preferred)
- Internship in marketing, advertising, media, communications, or related field a plus, but not required
- Writing experience required (can be via internships or in school)
- Portfolio showcasing conceptual thinking and multi-platform campaign work. Samples must exemplify writing style, sales copy, voices, mediums, and creative style.
- Prior entertainment experience is a plus
- Innovative and creative, with an aptitude for big ideas and written executions
- Passion for the entertainment industry and strong knowledge of pop culture
- Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills
- Proactive mindset; able to run with projects and “yes-and” assignments
- Detail-, deadline- and solutions-oriented
- Flexibility to write in multiple voices, depending on intended audience and platform
- Able to collaborate across the department and cross-functionally with members of other teams
- Comfortable receiving and providing creative feedback on projects, often in a group setting
- Knowledge of Mac operating system and experience with software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT; Keynote; Outlook; Slack
Shift:
- Monday-Friday 9am to 6pm Eastern
