A leading digital streaming network seeks an Accountant II to support accounting functions related to content licensing contracts, general ledger activities, financial close processes, revenue recognition, reconciliations, contract analysis, financial reporting, audit support, and compliance with GAAP and SOX controls.
Accountant II Responsibilities:
- Perform general ledger accounting activities, including month-end and quarter-end close, revenue recognition, Trial Balance reconciliations, journal entries, clearing account and cash reconciliations, revenue share tracking, and intercompany and related-party reporting.
- Analyze and report on content licensing agreements by interpreting contractual license fee calculations and payment terms, reviewing new contracts and change orders, monitoring revenue performance, and analyzing revenue recognition, including stagger, non-delivery, straight-line, renewal, and cash-in-advance arrangements.
- Perform financial analysis including foreign exchange variance analysis, actual versus forecast/plan analysis, present value analysis, quarterly bad debt analysis, revenue review, and ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Review and maintain accounting information and transactions within applicable sub-systems, including PRISM and TVR; update Pay TV deals, investigate discrepancies, coordinate with IT on system development and testing, and support related entitlements, non-theatrical, and TREC reconciliation and reporting activities.
- Support GAAP/statutory audits, including internal compliance and external audits, maintain SOX and other key controls, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant accounting operations.
Accountant II Qualifications:
- 3-6 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong experience with general ledger reconciliations.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting rules and principles.
- Experience with revenue recognition and financial close processes.
- Experience with content licensing or contract accounting is preferred.
- Experience in the entertainment or studio industry is preferred.
Shift:
- 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Ability to work overtime as needed, including extended hours during month-end and quarter-end close periods and weekend overtime during quarter-end periods.
- Extended hours can be done at home.
