Job Description:

An ASCAP Global Distribution Services Representative provides customer service to ASCAP’s partner societies and members inquiring about ASCAP domestic and International distributions. The Distribution Services Representative will act as a liaison with internal departments and ASCAP’s partner societies to seamlessly respond to any inquiry from a society or a member related to foreign outgoing and/or incoming distributions.

Areas of responsibility/accountability:

Society & Member Customer Service

  • Provide customer service to ASCAP’s foreign society partners and members via telephone
  • Email and ASCAP's proprietary online account management system
  • Effectively communicate within and outside of the organization to resolve society and member issues and answer basic questions in a timely manner
  • Notify societies and members of upcoming debits at a given dollar threshold
  • Use sound judgment to determine if high profile claims need to be escalated 
  • Support AVP in preparing for visits from societies to NY office

Society and Member Liaison to Internal Performance Processing Teams –  

For societies: 

  • Resolve performance processing errors or complex Audio Visual claims
  • Communicate distribution practices and policies to societies completely and simply

For members: 

  • Research and review member claims using data from member statements, internal data tables and society data
  • Determine steps for resolution and liaison with societies on behalf of ASCAP and member where additional information is required in order to process member claims
  • Use sound judgment to determine if high profile claims need to be escalated
  • Communicate distribution practices and policies to members on behalf of other societies completely and simply

Distribution Support – 

  • Provide support to management for quarterly foreign outgoing and incoming distribution review tasks and special projects as needed to meet department goals and needs of International EVP

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Industry Studies, Business or work experience equivalent.
  • Customer Service Experience
  • Excellent administrative, written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to clearly and simply communicate complex issues.
  • Skilled at handling multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and organized to ensure internal and external responsiveness.
  • Able to apply to new concepts and learned skills to daily tasks
  • Effective and creative problem solver.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Excellent math skills and ability to apply skills to solve problems efficiently
  • Must handle phone calls to/from ASCAP members when required
