Marketing Analytics Training Director
Decision Science | Clayton, MO | Full Time
We’re a nerdy marketing agency that has had our top analytics talent poached - and we’re proud of it!
We have built our reputation on our strong technical expertise and the only way to continue that legacy of excellence is to lean into the situation. We know the global war on talent is only going to get worse, so we’re designing a program to create a win-win for our employees, our clients, and Anvil - and we need someone to design and run it!
We accidentally created a farm team for marketing analytics over the last four years - and over the next four years, we’re going to create one on purpose. We need a leader that is excited to create the curriculum and work with a team to drive success for all parties.
The Marketing Analytics Training Director will lead Anvil’s Decision Science department. We work with an impressive roster of clients across the country and they rely on our team to help them understand the impact of their marketing dollars. Our team helps our clients ensure the data they are relying on to make decisions is accurate and timely, and design dashboards that provide real insight into their decision-making process. The Decision Science team then works cross-functionally with our marketing team to implement strategic and tactical campaign improvements to drive better results.
This role is an important one in our organization and exciting to a candidate that enjoys seeing coworkers win. This candidate will help design and lead a 4-year program for folks with a couple of years of experience under their belt. After four years, we will expect the graduates to spread their wings and fly. We see the 4-year program as a great training opportunity to learn the skills that result in a 6-figure salary. The ideal candidate will get immense personal satisfaction creating the program, recruiting candidates, teaching them, and then watching their careers take off after the completion of the program.
Note: Full or partial work-from-home allowed with this position. We have an office that some employees love using, but we love supporting our remote team!
You’ll have to get the actual client work done (yourself and with your team as it’s built), including:
Report and analyze web traffic, website behavior, and product performance for multiple clients
Work collaboratively to identify KPIs, business needs and to provide data-driven insights that fuel business and marketing decisions
Generate custom dashboards and analyses with the goal to tell stories and present results to key clients
Conduct analyses around business questions and goals
Audit Google Analytics and GTM implementations across client accounts, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting
Proactively discover solutions and provide recommendations to improve our clients’ websites’ content creation and distribution processes. Recommendations will include design and content enhancements, CTA optimization, and marketplace opportunities
Evaluate traffic acquisition, user experience, and site conversions to provide strategic and tactical recommendations to improve a website’s performance
Solve difficult-to-track analytics issues with the goal of measuring the complete customer journey online
Assess emerging tools and industry trends to build a competitive tool-set with an early-adoption mindset
But, also create the Marketing Analytics Training Program (we probably need a new name - can you help?):
Design a four-year curriculum that encourages candidates with 2-3 years Google Analytics experience to apply
Leverage existing training resources (think: Google Analytics and GTM certifications), Anvil documentation and cross-team collaboration to set our candidates up for success
Create job descriptions and recruiting processes to attract candidates into the MATP program (the marketing team will help promote!)
Manage MATP candidate’s work on client accounts, providing quality assurance (QA) review
Help drive the program to success. This needs to be a win-win-win and you need to feel good about the career trajectory changes you are making every day.

We are led by the following values...
Have respectful, direct communication, which leads to trust and strong relationships
We have many long-term, mutually-satisfying relationships with both our team and clients. This isn’t by accident. We honor these partnerships by maintaining an open and honest dialogue at all times, especially when we’re delivering bad news. We promise to always communicate every step of the way.
Be inspired by data
We’re a data-driven agency. A lot of other agencies say they are too. However, we’ve doubled down on that effort in three ways that we think are pretty special. We write about it on our blog, we have a team dedicated to helping us use data to make decisions, and we even put on a conference about it (with half-day workshops coming soon!). Next to our people, data is the thread that holds everything together in our agency.
Cherish the community
Our team is inspired by doing good in the community. We support local food pantries like Food Outreach, an organization that provides meals to low-income men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS or cancer. We also adopt families every year at Christmas and help out high schoolers with school supplies. Community is incredibly important and we cherish it as much as we can.
We believe a team can do its best work when given an opportunity to balance work with life. We close our office at 1 pm each Friday and give our team plenty of paid time off so that everyone is happy, well-rested, and ready to contribute their best to our clients’ projects. Plus, our team observes a “soft close” between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, allowing you to spend the holiday season with your loved ones.
Focus on equity
Building an equitable culture ensures that we have diverse thought within our agency, which keeps us innovative and forward-thinking. We hire with diversity top of mind so that you can benefit from the best talent with a variety of interests, backgrounds, and experiences.
Provide the highest quality work
Last but certainly not least, we all commit to challenging each other to bring our best possible work to the table each day. This allows us to keep reaching and providing the best possible solutions to our clients.
