Director of Digital Accessibility

Accessibility | Remote, or hybrid in Seattle/Olympia, WA | Full Time | From $53.00 to $75.00 per hour

Job Description

Anthro-Tech is looking for a Director of Digital Accessibility to work with our smart and inspired team to standardize and grow our digital accessibility practice. The ideal candidate is well versed in human-centered design strategy and masterful at applying digital accessibility knowledge and skills to support inclusive product and service design. They will have a passion for designing accessible experiences and ensuring that our team is delivering high-quality services customized to the unique needs of each project. The Director of Digital Accessibility will grow the accessibility practice at Anthro-Tech with attention to process definition, sales, training, quality assurance, and accessibility practice goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve clients and contribute to human-centered design projects as a consultant and project lead
  • Maintain >60% billable hours target
  • Oversee the standardization of accessibility processes, services, and deliverables
  • Set goals and measurables for the accessibility practice area to deliver high quality work
  • Build resources and practices to support quality assurance (QA) for accessibility services
  • Facilitate Accessibility practice area meetings to surface and solve issues/opportunities
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging best practices to sharpen our toolkit and shape the future of how Anthro-Tech provides Accessibility services
  • Assist with sales efforts and identify / develop new services and approaches
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable consulting team members
  • Produce thought-leadership, representing Anthro-Tech’s Accessibility practice through publishing content, speaking at events, and training others


Qualifications:

  • A strong track record of thought leadership and advanced skills in digital accessibility audits, strategic consulting, and training
  • Experience leading and overseeing strategic direction on human-centered design projects
  • Ability to build close partnerships with clients to help navigate challenges and ambiguity
  • Experience teaching or mentoring others in accessibility
  • Experience building systems, processes, and artifacts that support accessibility practice quality and efficiency
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, HCI, a related discipline, OR compelling work experiences
  • At least 7 years’ experience in applying digital accessibility expertise
  • Evidence of relevant education and certification in digital accessibility (for example, Certifications from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP): WAS, CPWA, CPACC

Other preferred experience:

  • Experience working with a User Experience team and/or a UX design-focused agency
  • Consulting experience serving a mix of government, corporate, and nonprofit clients
  • Knowledge of change management for accessibility and the Accessibility Maturity Model
  • Knowledge of human-centered design process or user experience (UX) research and design

Scheduling & travel

This is a full-time position with the ability to work remotely or from our Olympia or Seattle, Washington offices. Occasional travel may be required.

  • Retirement - Our 401(k) Safe Harbor plan has no required match - we automatically make a 3% of compensation company contribution to your self-directed brokerage account. A discretionary profit-sharing component also exists. 

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) - you'll accrue PTO for each hour you work. Full-time team members accrue approximately 15 PTO days per year  

  • Paid Holidays - Anthro-Tech offers 9 paid holidays each calendar year which includes one floater holiday of your choice

  • Supplemental Pay for Parental Leave – 8 weeks of supplemental pay for parental leave is available for Washington State employees

  • Training & professional development - We'll work with you on a training & professional development plan each year. We're currently covering up to $2,500 in approved expenses for workshops, conferences, tuition, travel, books or other activities as well as 3-days paid time to attend 

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility. The range of starting pay for this role of Director of Digital Accessibility is $53.00 - $75.00 per hour + Benefits.
