Senior Project Manager

General | Portland, OR | Full Time

Job Description

Background

We don’t just build custom software, we are a technology partner who creates lasting relationships that help our customers grow their business. We work with innovative companies to create custom applications that will unlock growth, streamline processes, and ensure scalability. We collaborate with our clients on a daily basis to ensure we are driving value at multiple levels.

We have been in business for over 15 years and employ more than 175 people from our headquarters in Portland, and across our satellite offices in San Diego, Austin, Jacksonville Beach, Ashland, and Vietnam. For six years running we continue to be honored as one of Inc. 5000’s and Portland Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Private Companies, and there is little sign of slowing down!

Why this Role? Why Now?

For 15 years now, we've been growing alongside our largest client in telecommunications, building a variety of products across their entire enterprise. As their business continues to grow, diversify, and become more dynamic, so does our need to hire business-minded project managers who can lead and land large, complex, cross-team projects.

Project Management balances communication and relationship dynamics with the need for structural accountability via objective benchmarks, timelines, and budgets in order to demonstrate continued value to the customer. Therefore, as a member of our Project Management team, you will be collaborating to identify risk, remove roadblocks, and help to coach and mentor some key Scrum ceremonies in an Agile environment. You will be working closely with product teams and key stakeholders to help manage project work in a way that drives value and achieves specific, measurable business outcomes. Be brave! Offer ideas that level-up the performance of the organization overall. Could we be doing something more efficiently? We empower you to speak up, have convictions, and find the gaps where we could increase value to our customers!

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the building and delivery of custom software solutions

  • Communicate project-related activities (ranging from in-person meetings/emails to instant messaging, reporting, and conference calls)

  • Build-up and breakdown of task management by team member/project/portfolio

  • Effectively generate and efficiently execute project plans including scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, risk, and communication management plans

  • Work closely with product and system architects, user experience experts, software development teams, QA, and other functions to drive project planning and execution

  • Track project milestones, metrics, and tasks with assigned team members, and generate reports to the leadership team on project status

  • Participate in meetings for sprint grooming, sprint planning, sprint demos, and retros

  • Identify significant project risks and unknowns, then define and drive mitigation plans

  • Drive information sharing, capturing and disseminating of best practices across the PMO

  • Communicate with Product teams and customer stakeholders to pivot workflow and project prioritization as needed

  • Contribute to team and cross-functional meetings, ensuring information is disseminated in an appropriate fashion and timeline

The Big 5:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • 4+ years of progressive career movement in Project Management in the tech/software space

  • 2+ years of proven success in delivery software projects to customers in a hybrid Agile environment

  • Track record of high performance: exceeding KPI's, goals, and customer satisfaction metrics

  • Knowledge of Scrum ceremonies, Sprint Management and Kanban methodology

The Support You Deserve:

We are insanely proud of the high employee retention and work culture we have built here at AltSource, but we never allow ourselves to feel we have “arrived.” We believe hiring uniquely talented individuals with diverse backgrounds and life experiences is the only way to continue to create a compelling product and service to our customers. While we offer amazing perks like a beautifully appointed headquarters in SE Portland, replete with ping pong, locker/bike rooms, catered breakfasts/lunches and enough Kombucha to fill the Mt. Tabor Reservoir, we don’t believe that those things are the foundation of true, substantive culture.

At our heart, we are a group of builders and doers who are obsessed with seeking a better way to drive client value. We come to work each day, braving the freeway traffic, lack of bike lanes, or crowded MAX cars because we actively choose a career that pushes us outside our comfort zone and allows us to experience personal growth and development rare to most organizations of our size. Because we seek high performance and high accountability, we offer competitive wage and benefit packages including paid medical and dental for all employees, and a 401k plan that rewards dedication and loyalty.
