About this operations engineer role

As a member of the AltSource Operations team you play an integral role in our client’s success through the delivery of great software.  Focused on continuous improvement and streamlining, you work closely with agile development teams in the software release process.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will also have the critical responsibility of ensuring the performance of applications and supporting infrastructure is at the highest possible level. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, multi-faceted experience, a willingness to work flexible hours, and the technological expertise to support our Operations team in handling client requests.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Manage and direct a continuous software release program

  • Help create tools and processes that improve the ability to deploy software quickly

  • Work with Quality Assurance team and provide QA lab support as needed

  • Provide branch/build assistance as needed

  • Support client operations, to including application (IIS/.NET) troubleshooting, investigating data issues, and implementing corrective steps as needed

  • Assist with supporting VMWare infrastructure, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and policy creation

  • Be available for after-hours operations as part of an on-call rotation

Requirements for success

  • B.S. or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years experience in a similar role

  • Extensive knowledge of the software release process

  • Deep experience with .NET framework and TeamCity; experience with Octopus Deploy a plus

  • In-depth knowledge of VMWare ESXi 4.x and VSphere 5.x with the ability to architect, design, build and maintain that platform

  • Thorough understanding of IIS website/application pool model

  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and debugging

  • Practical scripting knowledge to automate tasks and processes (powershell scripting is preferred)

  • Outstanding customer service and time management skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Familiarity with the following a plus: C# v3.5 and later, ASP.Net web forms, MVC, JavaScript, and SQL

  • Experience working with MS Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, and Subversion source control tools a plus

  • A great team attitude and the desire to work with a small group of your peers, without hierarchy or politics
