Test Engineering Positions for Aspiring Data Scientists

The Role

This is an opportunity for anyone with a background in mathematics, machine learning or statistics to get involved in the world of data science and application development by helping to test our predictive analytics and machine learning platform against real-world analytics scenarios. Work alongside a high-powered team of engineers and data scientists to test accuracy, scalability and usability, and help dream up new capabilities for Alpine's applications so that we can bring data science to the broadest possible audience.

Alpine's data-mining software scales to huge datasets (hundreds of terabytes, or billions of rows) but it is driven through an intuitive graphical interface. Responsibilities

  • Build models and workflows to test that Alpine’s predictive analytic functionality performs as expected against Big Data

  • Design a comprehensive test case suite to ensure accuracy and scalability for Alpine's predictive analytics platform

  • Work closely with Architects, Developers, and PM to define test strategies

  • Define, create and shape synthetic data sets used to test that the analytics algorithms are functioning as expected

  • Write validation programs in R, MATLAB or some other statistical software package to compare results for a given operation with Alpine’s output to assure accuracy

  • Perform functional tests on new features, fixes, document issues and conduct regression testing against Alpine for any given release

  • Be the customer advocate and voice of quality across the development organization

 

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Data Science with a solid academic grounding in machine learning and mathematical statistics

  • Apply techniques such as machine learning, statistical analysis and predictive modeling to design & deliver effective tests

  • Create re-usable data models, data sets, workflows and test suites

  • Experience with testing or working with one or more of the following technologies: Hadoop, Databases, Analytics, Application Servers

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning or Data Science or a related field

 

Bonus Points
