Food Lab/Quality Control Technician

Alpenrose Dairy, a 100-year-old iconic Portland brand, is seeking an experienced Lab/Quality Control Technician. This is a critical role responsible for supporting our Food Safety Program and Quality systems as well as the primary bench analysist for our laboratory.

This position supports our 2nd shift. Working hours are 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm, Monday - Friday (occassional weekends to support production).

Qualifications needed to be successful:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in a similar role within the food industry preferred.
  • Ability to pass/maintain FSCPA certification and HACCP training.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Optimistic outlook & get it done attitude.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand/sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate a computer.
  • Must be able to perform visual, olfactory and sensory tasks.

Some of the fun areas of daily responsibilities include:

  • Ensure Alpenrose Dairy produces safe, quality and legal food.
  • Conduct Pre-operation sanitation inspections and tests.
  • Conduct Allergen inspections and testing.
  • Perform aseptic product sampling.
  • Perform aseptic environmental sampling.
  • Perform analytical microbiological bench procedures on raw, finished product and environmental samples.
  • Perform microbiological quantification procedures.
  • Maintain accurate Laboratory records
  • Report laboratory results to our Food Safety Team.
  • Generate and report Certificates of Analysis(CoA’s).
  • Complete bench work and report results in a timely manner.
  • Maintain laboratory quality records.
  • Perform Inspections of incoming raw material and packaging.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures and business ethics.
  • Work cooperatively with management & colleagues.
